A FINE PLACE TO DINE OUT COMES IN VERY ANDY
Author: Sunday Mirror
Andy's Restaurant offers delicious food in luxurious yet comfortable surroundings. The lounge area of the restaurant has large, comfortable leather chairs and a lovely open fire.
When we arrived, the waiters, who were smartly turned out in white shirts, black trousers and bow ties, instantly impressed us with their friendliness and efficiency.
The lounge was fairly busy but since we had booked we were immediately taken upstairs to the dining area. We would have preferred to stay in the comfortable lounge and ordered our food before being taken upstairs - but we were also quite hungry so we followed our waiter without complaining.
I am quite partial to pate so I did not hesitate in choosing the Chef's Pate as a starter. It was a perfect combination of gamey meat, served with crispy toast, a rich Cumberland sauce and a garnish of crispy salad.
Vernon loves seafood and he remarked that the Prawn Cocktail he chose was first class. He was presented with an abundance of large juicy prawns served on a bed of ice with freshly baked wheaten bread and butter.
TENDER
Duck is also a great favourite of mine and I have been disappointed with some dishes I have ordered in restaurants in the past. But not so with the two breast fillets of duckling I had as my main meal at Andy's. I was presented with two large and very tender fillets served with a delicious tangy sauce. The broccoli and cauliflower which accompanied the dish were cooked exactly to my liking - fresh and crispy.
Vernon had a nine ounce Sirloin Steak which was served up exactly as ordered - medium. The meat came with a tasty peppered sauce, home-made French fried onions and chips. The onions were covered in a delicious batter that melted in the mouth and the chunky chips were crispy outside and fluffy inside.
Even though we were quite full, we could not resist the mouth-watering desserts. The profiteroles and cheesecake we ordered were served with just the right amount of fresh cream.
We also had freshly brewed coffee and after dinner mints which was the perfect ending to our meal. We were offered extra servings during the meal which we declined.
The food was just as good as we had expected it to be - we have been to Andy's on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed.
A party of 30 diners had already placed their orders before we arrived which resulted in a slight delay before our order was taken. But the short wait between courses was ideal as it gave us enough time to look forward to the next course. The staff were very apologetic and concerned about the delay.
INSTRUCTED
In fact one of Andy's selling points is the high calibre of the staff. They are always helpful and are well instructed about the dishes on the menu.
There is no entertainment at Andy's and it is not missed. The people who visit Andy's on a regular basis do so for the delicious food.
Andy's is a restaurant that has something for everyone - it has a wide selection of dishes for meat eaters, vegetarians and seafood lovers. The location of the restaurant is perfect for us as it is not far from our home. But even if it was, the journey would be worth it - the restaurant will become a regular haunt of ours.
